In 2017 I was setting goals for the new year but I also set a future goal to take part in my first wedding expo by 2019. As 2019 approached I kept thinking about this goal and it just felt like the right time! I made it a reality before 2018 was even finished by writing out that booth payment check in December and putting it on my calendar!
I was nervous but excited! What am I going to bring? What is my setup going to look like? I had so many thoughts rolling through my head and the funny thing is, as much as I thought about it, I honestly didn’t know how it was all going to come together until that morning. On my drive in I was talking to my friend who was going to come help me set up if she had a side table and she starts sending me pictures of signs. I didn’t make my background until two nights before! I borrowed products from past brides! #frugal
I couldn’t love how it turned out Any More! It was humbling to receive the comments I got on my work and my booth! I have a lot of thank yous to shout out:
Thank you to my husband, Jeff, for helping me build the background two nights before the event.
Thank you to my amazing friend and coworker, Christie, for helping me setup, for bringing me decor and for picking up Subway!
Thank you to past brides Brandy, Kari and Allie for allowing me to use beautiful products you had previously purchased. And
Thank you to my sweet friend Rachel who stopped to see me that afternoon and brought COFFEE because she knew I didn’t sleep much the night before.
I have the best circle of people and I cannot wait to add more people to that circle as I meet more bride and grooms! I am so excited to photograph some amazing weddings in 2019 and 2020.
At the Expo, brides were able to sign up to win a Date Night prize package. I had 28 brides and one couple register. My talking skills definitely developed throughout the day! I was so excited to let Kristina and Jared, the one couple, know that they were the winners of this fun evening. And even more honored when I received the email back saying they’d like to move forward with me as their photographer!
If you’d like a little peek into what the morning looked like for me, take a look at this fun setup time lapse video that Christie also created for me when we were setting up! So cool!
